Requirements
At Red Rover Resort, we require all dogs to meet specific health and socialization criteria before they can join our Overnight Boarding or Daycare services.

Vaccination and Health Requirements
We require the following vaccinations for dog daycare and boarding:
-
Rabies
-
Distemper/Parvovirus
-
Bordetella
In addition, we recommend but do not require:
-
Leptospirosis
-
Canine Influenza

Owners are required to provide vaccination records from a veterinarian. You can upload these documents directly to your client portal via, Paw Partner app, or bring hard copies at check-in. Each submitted record must include either a given date or an expiration date for each vaccine. Please note that we may not be able to contact your veterinarian during check-in, so ensure you arrive fully prepared.
Please note, we do not allow dogs with expired vaccinations in the facility.

Puppies and dogs currently completing their distemper booster series must wait until all vaccinations are finalized before attending daycare or boarding. Until they receive all required boosters, they remain vulnerable and should not be exposed to other dogs.

If your dog has an underlying condition that prevents them from receiving any required vaccines, you must provide a signed letter from your veterinarian to allow entry into the facility. Red Rover Resort reserves the right to decline admission to any dog unable to receive these vaccinations. Please note that exceptions cannot be made for the rabies vaccine under any circumstances, as mandated by Colorado law.

Dogs with injuries, stitches, medical conditions exacerbated by stress or exercise, or those requiring life-sustaining medications will not be permitted to stay at Red Rover Resort. To participate in daycare or overnight boarding, your dog must be in good health. Please inform us of any medical conditions that could impact your dog’s ability to play or interact in a social environment. Your dog’s safety is our priority, and we aim to prevent any risk of harm or complications due to pre-existing conditions.
Medications
We are happy to administer oral and topical medications or supplements for your dog at no extra charge. However, we cannot administer injection or rectal medications. Additionally, we are unable to accept dogs that rely on life-sustaining medications. For pets requiring such critical care, the safest option is to have them stay with a veterinary medical professional. It is important to note all medication and supplements must be provided in it's original container.
Information on Kennel Cough & Bordetella
Dog Daycare and Boarding Requirements for Kennel Cough and Bordetella vaccinations
Many refer to Kennel Cough as Infectious Tracheobronchitis, Bordetella, or Bordetellosis. Vets administer The Bordetella vaccine to reduce the chance of a dog catching and spreading Kennel Cough.

To participate in daycare or boarding, we require the Bordetella vaccine to be current.
Please note that even with vaccination, dogs can still contract and spread Kennel Cough. If a dog does contract Kennel Cough, the vaccine helps lessen the severity and duration of symptoms.
Please review the given dates on your dog’s vaccination records. If your pup has never received the Bordetella vaccine or it was last administered more than nine months ago, they must receive the vaccine at least three days before their boarding or daycare stay. This ensures the vaccine has enough time to take effect in their system.

The Bordetella vaccine is commonly administered by veterinarians via nasal spray, oral dose, or subcutaneous injection. While studies differ on the relative effectiveness of each method, all have been shown to be safe and effective for dogs aged 8 weeks and older.

Kennel cough symptoms can vary depending on a dog’s immune system. The most common symptom is a persistent, nonproductive cough that sounds like honking or gagging. Symptoms typically appear 5-10 days after exposure and may last 10-20 days. The cough often worsens during or after exercise. Other symptoms may include a runny nose, sneezing, or eye discharge. In mild cases, dogs remain active and alert, but in severe cases, symptoms can progress to pneumonia, with lethargy, fever, and loss of appetite.
If your dog shows these symptoms or you suspect kennel cough, consult a veterinarian. Left untreated, it may lead to complications like pneumonia. Veterinarians can provide treatment to manage and soothe symptoms, including cough suppressants similar to those used for humans.
It’s important to note that there is no cure for kennel cough. Due to its viral and bacterial components, antibiotics may not always speed up recovery. Always seek veterinary guidance if you have concerns about your dog’s health.

If you suspect your dog is experiencing Kennel Cough symptoms, please keep them at home and avoid visiting daycares, dog parks, or taking walks in public spaces. Additionally, do not allow them to drink from communal water bowls. If we observe symptoms of Kennel Cough in your dog, you will be required to pick them up and have them evaluated by a veterinarian before returning.
If a veterinarian diagnoses your dog with Kennel Cough, they must stay home for at least 10 days after starting prescribed medications and remain home until all symptoms have fully resolved.
Age Requirements
We recommend that all puppies be at least 4 months old, as this is when they have typically received all necessary vaccination boosters. Puppies who have completed all their vaccinations are welcome.
While we love puppies, those who have not received all their boosters are more vulnerable to common contagious viruses and diseases, such as kennel cough, distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, Giardia, hookworms, ringworm, and more. Their immune systems may not be strong enough to combat these illnesses, which can lead to serious symptoms or worse. To ensure the health and safety of all dogs, we maintain this requirement.
Spay and Neuter Requirements
We do allow intact dogs in our facility. If you have a female who is expected to be in heat we may not be able to admit her depending on our occupancy during that time. Please let us know if and when your intact female will be expecting to be in heat at the time of your booking. Intact males may not be able to join group playtime depending on their temperament. These dogs will still receive the same amount of outdoor playtime but may be limited to one-on-one time with a staff member. Extra fees may be applied for these circumstances.
